Hypothesis

Our hypothesis is that if we can show the community images of the past next to images of the present, then people will see that the area where thery live is not static but changing all of the time.  Change is a matter of fact over time, but the rate of change is a result of human intervention.  The images will help develop the understanding that the changes we are seeing are happening in a single lifetime as opposed to centuries.  Undoubtedly there will be individuals who will never see the change no matter what evidence is presented to them.  But for those who look at the images logically and critically, the pictures will tell the story of the pace of change we are experiencing.

It is our hope that the community will help with the research by looking in their photo albums for pictures with any dates on them and taking comparison pictures of their own.  Just as the example on the home page.  Pictures with trees, flowers and bushes are a good indicator of climate change as opposed to an image that just shows a difference for a short period of time.  By using pictures from any date and from anywhere, we hope to develop a statistically sound study that will stand up to critics and naysayers.
